Interests
Lawyers, judges and all of Channing's clients know about his concern with global warming and the harsh effects it is dealing to the people of Iowa and their children. For years, Channing has been writing and lecturing throughout Iowa about climate change impacts and the need for action. He has appeared before civic groups, city governments, school boards and state agencies seeking justice for those who will have to deal with the harsh impacts of climate change in the decades to come. He has also carried the fight for a better tomorrow into Iowa courtrooms representing future generations of children in the Filippone case, arrested pipeline protesters and all the people of Polk County in 2019 water quality litigation.
At the 2019 Iowa State Fair Presidential candidate Jay Inslee, the governor of Washington State called out Channing during his speech at the fair. Here’s what he said: “There’s a lot of people working hard on climate change in Iowa…. I want to give you a shout out to a guy who has been fighting climate change in Iowa for about 15 years, Channing Dutton. Hold up your sign Channing. Thank for your leadership, buddy. There’s a guy who really believes it. Channing, thank you.”

This passion for action has also lead Channing into the political advocacy world. Our law firm hosts climate candidates on a regular basis. The goal is to help any leader who is willing to help the climate future. Some think this makes Channing a staunch democrat, but the truth is he doesn't give a toot about what party a candidate belongs to. What Channing cares about is whether a candidate can lead us into the future with a plan of real climate action. From Hillary Clinton to Lindsey Graham, Channing wants all of them to act...right now!
